Kailash Tour Equipment List

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar Yatras require high-altitude gear that can withstand extreme elevations (up to 18,300 feet / 5,630 meters) and rapidly changing weather conditions. There is a violent fluctuation of temperatures between -5°C and 12°C. You should pack a duffel bag (carried by vehicles or porters) and a lightweight daypack since most of the tour involves overland driving followed by a 3-day walking Kora (circumambulation).

Luggage Duffel Bag: (40-50L): For your main gear, which is carried by porters or support vehicles, you will need a sturdy, water-resistant duffel bag. (Note: Most Kailash Tour Packages include a customized duffel bag upon arrival in Kathmandu or Lhasa).

Daypack (20–30L): For the Parikrama, you'll need a small, comfortable backpack with a waterproof rain cover to carry your daily essentials (water, poncho, personal medications, electronic devices).

Trekking Poles: For steep, uneven, and rocky paths, walking sticks that are adjustable and shock-absorbing are essential.

Headlamp or Flashlight: As a result, it is imperative to do this before the Kora starts in the early mornings, since batteries drain very quickly during cold weather.

Rain Protection: The perfect rain poncho for covering yourself and your daypack.

Trekking Boots: It is advisable to wear sturdy, water-resistant, ankle-support hiking boots. They should be well broken in a couple of weeks before the trip to prevent painful blisters.

Camp Shoes/Sandals: The best footwear for relaxing at guesthouses and camps is a lightweight sneaker or slip-on sandal.

Socks: There should be 3–4 pairs of thick trekking socks made of merino wool and 2 pairs of thinner liner socks to reduce friction on the trek.

Down Jacket: A puffy jacket with insulation rated for cold temperatures (-10°C or -20°C).

Universal Plug Adapter: It is essential for charging devices across different guesthouse outlets in Tibet.
